Independent Forest Audit – Caribou Forest

What?

By law (Ontario Regulation 319/20 under the Crown Forest Sustainability Act), The Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) requires forest management units be audited at least once every ten to twelve years. 

These Independent Forest Audits (IFA) are conducted by independent audit firms selected through a competitive process.  Both the Forest Manager and MNR are audited. The audit for the Caribou Forest has been awarded to Caliber Forestry Consulting.

When?

The Independent Forest Audit preparation has begun, with a field audit scheduled to take place September 14 – 18, 2026.

Where?

The Caribou Forest is in the Red Lake- Sioux Lookout District in the Northwest Region of the Ministry of Natural Resources.

Forest management processes including the preparation of the 2020-2030 Forest Management Plan and all forest management operations conducted on the Caribou Forest between April 1, 2019, and March 31, 2026, will be audited.
